Camp Brookgreen is a one-week camp that immerses your child in nature and connects them with wildlife. Each day campers will enjoy diverse learning opportunities and educational experiences that teach science, art, and team-building skills. Campers will enjoy guided tours through our native zoo and award-winning botanical and sculpture garden. Throughout the week, students may also meet animal ambassadors up close, get behind-the-scenes tours, and enjoy a variety of S.T.E.M.-based activities.

Nature in Bloom

K 3rd Grades

Celebrate the season with Nature in Bloom, an exciting 4-day spring break camp that highlights the wonders of springtime! Campers will discover what spring means for plants and animals through engaging STEAM activities, nature exploration, and hands-on art projects inspired by the beauty of Brookgreen Gardens.

Our immersive camp experience is designed to deepen your child’s connection to the natural world, sparking curiosity and creativity while exploring hidden areas of the gardens. A snack will be provided, but campers should bring their own lunch. All sessions will begin in the classroom, and pre-registration is required. Don’t miss out on this adventure-filled springtime experience!

 

 

Art in Bloom

4th 6th Grades

Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders are invited to join us for Art in Bloom, an exciting 4-day Spring Break camp where nature and art come together! Campers will enjoy fun-filled activities like learning about native animals in the zoo, exploring hidden areas of Brookgreen Gardens through guided nature hikes, and creating unique art inspired by the natural world.

This immersive camp is designed to foster a deep connection to the environment through outdoor projects, creative play, and skill-building adventures. Each day offers a new opportunity to spark curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Campers will also engage in art activities and discussions about how the beauty of nature can inspire their artistic expression. Let nature be your guide on this unforgettable adventure!

Nature is ‘Sense-ational’            

K-1st Grades  

June 9th – 13th       

10am - 1pm 

Campers will explore their 5 senses by visiting different areas of Brookgreen. Through nature walks, crafts and STEAM activities centered around our sense of hearing, smell, taste, touch and sight. Campers will also investigate ‘sense-ational’ adaptations in the natural world, from smelly plants to animals that smell with their tongues! Join us and have a ‘sense-ational’ time learning about our senses and nature.

Where the Wild Things Are            

K-1st Grades  

June 16th – 20th        

10am - 1pm 

Get outside and explore how WILD nature is. Campers will learn about what it takes for plants and animals to survive. We will also learn how WILD some plants and animals are – some have crazy colors to blend in, and for others that means to stay away! Campers will also learn about our native neighbors that we can find around Brookgreen and maybe in our backyards at home! A fun filled week of STEAM challenges, games, and crafts.

Icky-ology            

2nd – 3rd Grades  

June 23rd  – 27th        

10am - 3pm 

Take a hike on the wild side with us as we investigate all the things that are icky in the natural world! Everything from funky smells, icky habits and slime too. Learn about wild animal adaptations that are a little icky, how we can use animal waste in the garden, meet animal ambassadors, participate in STEAM challenges, and make crafts to take home!

Fantastic Beasts           

2nd – 3rd Grades  

July 7th – 11th      

10am - 3pm  

Learn about animal classifications, what makes a mammal, reptile, bird, amphibian and insect different from one another and what adaptations these animals have. Campers will also investigate popular mythical creatures and figure out which real life animals inspired them! An exciting week of learning, STEAM challenges, animal encounters, and crafts!

If I Ran the Zoo            

4th – 6th Grades  

July 14th – 18th      

10am - 3pm   

It takes a ZOO! It takes many to make our zoo run smoothly – everything from horticulturists, zookeepers, volunteers and more. Join us and learn all about what it takes to run a Zoo. Campers will explore habitat design, nutrition, enrichment and much more. A great experience for anyone interested in an animal-related career!

STEAM Explorers            

4th – 6th Grades  

July 21st – 25th       

10am – 3pm 

Join us for an immersive STEAM based week. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEAM experiments and activities throughout the week. This week will be focused on hands-on experiments, they will also learn about the variety of ways STEAM is applied at Brookgreen.

Art Camp: Art & Alchemy: Exploring Nature Through STEAM 

3rd – 5th Grades      

July 28th – August 1st        

10am – 2pm 

This immersive camp bridges science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) with hands-on creative exploration inspired by the natural world. Campers will experiment with eco-friendly materials, scientific processes, and artistic techniques to create works that celebrate the intersection of art and nature.

Art Camp: Artful Earth  

6th – 12th Grades 

July 28th – August 1st        

10am – 2pm  

Campers will be using natural elements to create works of art. During the week we will be exploring the sculptures and natural beauty of Brookgreen as a muse for our works. We will use a variety of mediums from painting to hand-built items.

For daytime admission, gates close at 4:30 PM. For their safety and the safety of our animal collection, pets are not allowed, nor can they be left in vehicles inside Brookgreen. Service animals that have received special training to assist disabled persons are welcome.
