Get acquainted with the inhabitants of the Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, in Charleston, SC – including the famous Clark the elk. The Animal Forest is home to a variety of species that inhabited South Carolina at the time when this site was a newly settled English colony.

Animal Forest veterinarian Dr. Todd Heldreth discusses how zookeepers provide routine care to promote physical and mental well-being. In addition, he presents an overview of specific cases to highlight diagnostics and treatment for the animals when they are not well.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Todd Heldreth received his BS in Biology from Emory and Henry College and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Blacksburg, VA). Dr. Heldreth is currently the Staff Veterinarian at Charles Towne Landing Animal Forest and a Professor of Biology at Charleston Southern University.
