Led by Myrtle Beach Neighborhood Services Director Cookie Canty Goings, this talk will delve into the history of Charlie’s Place, a popular Myrtle Beach night club and entertainment space during the 1940s-1950s, now restored and serving the community as a museum and a site for businesses, meetings and cultural experiences.    

About the Speaker: 

Mary “Cookie” Canty Goings spent 30 years in public education as a teacher and counselor. The current Director of Neighborhood Services for the City of Myrtle Beach, Ms. Goings is continuing her dedicated journey of public service. Cookie is the Founder/President of Nana’s Hope House, a 501C3 which provides housing and direct services for eligible Horry County High School students. Cookie has been recognized for her contributions to the community, which include the Next Star/WBTW Remarkable Woman Award in 2024.
