Acer palmatum 'Moonfire'
Acer palmatum 'Moonfire' was selected from seedlings by Dick Wolff in Pennsylvania. It is a small, deciduous tree that grows to about ten to twelve feet tall. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. Our specimen is growing in full sun and appears to be performing well.
'Moonfire' is in the Matsumurae Group. The leaves are a dark purple-red that lasts well into the summer. Fall color is an attractive crimson. It is known for its heat tolerance.

Gates close at 4:30 PM. For their safety and the safety of our animal collection, pets are not allowed, nor can they be left in vehicles inside Brookgreen. Service animals that have received special training to assist disabled persons are welcome.
