Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Storm Cloud' was introduced after Hans Hansen and Tony Avent discovered Amsonia growing by a woodland stream in Alabama. Divisions of the Amsonia were brought back for trialing in both North Carolina and Michigan, whereby the best selection, Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Storm Cloud' was chosen.
