Ocimum basilicum 'Cardinal'
Ocimum basilicum 'Cardinal' is grown for its attractive floral inflorescence that is conical in shape and red-purple in color. The leaves are also of ornamental value and are green and textured. Stems are red and add another, understated ornamental feature.
It has been our experience that Ocimum basilicum 'Cardinal' performs well in our area. We have observed it to endure our heat and humidity without displaying problems, but have also found it to benefit from part shade conditions in the heat of summer.
